Why VoltGlass® Is Efficient
VoltGlass® saves energy differently than conventional heating. Instead of heating all the air in the room, it transforms the glazing itself into an active source of radiant heat. Heat is generated exactly where cold and heat losses occur with conventional windows.
Energy Savings Principle
The Problem with Traditional Systems
Conventional heating systems work by heating air. It rises to the ceiling while windows stay cold. You heat more, but comfort doesn’t arrive where you expect it.
The VoltGlass® Solution
VoltGlass® turns an ordinary window into an active part of the heating system. The glass becomes a heat source, not the weak point of the interior:
- Reduces the feeling of cold near windows
- Lowers the need to overheat the entire interior
- Helps make better use of delivered energy
- Increases thermal comfort even in spaces with large glazing areas
Savings in Practice
Thanks to the radiant heat principle, the same thermal comfort can be achieved at an air temperature 2–3 °C lower. Each degree less means approximately 6% energy savings.
Real Operating Modes
VoltGlass® operates in several modes depending on actual needs:
| Mode | Consumption |
|---|---|
| Condensation removal | ~25 Wh/m² |
| Comfort zone | ~35 Wh/m² |
| Secondary heat source | ~47 Wh/m² |
| Primary heat source | 35–90 Wh/m² |
| Snow and ice removal | up to 120 Wh/m² |
For standard interior comfort, the glass surface temperature typically ranges from +25 to +50 °C. For exterior snow and ice removal applications, it can operate up to +80 °C.
Effective Even When Not Heating
VoltGlass® is based on low-emissivity insulating glass with a conductive layer. The system thus provides not only active heating but also enhances the insulating properties of the glazing. Less heat escapes outward and the interior maintains a more stable thermal regime even outside the active heating cycle.
Regulation
Regulation via thermostat, similar to underfloor heating:
- Flexible settings – temperature can be set in the room or on the glass surface
- Smart home – quick temperature changes manually or remotely
- Efficient operation – after reaching temperature, glass switches on only when it drops by 1–2 °C
One Glass. Multiple Functions.
VoltGlass® combines in a single element:
- Heating
- Thermal comfort at glazing
- Condensation reduction
- Snow and ice removal
- Cleaner architecture without obtrusive heating elements
Operating Costs
Zero Service Costs
No moving parts, no inspections, no maintenance. Lifespan up to 25 years.
Savings in Building Technology
With proper design, VoltGlass® can serve as the main or supplementary heat source. This can mean fewer pipes, less visible technology, and more space. Powered directly from the 230 V grid (100–250 V), no transformer needed.
Compatibility with Renewable Sources
100–250 V range enables direct power from photovoltaics. With battery storage, energy self-sufficiency is achievable.
